INDIA, Post-Mauryan (Malwa). Ujjain. AE (Bronze, 14 mm, 3.38 g), 2nd century BC. Three-headed god (Brahma or Shiva) standing facing; to left, tree in railing. Rev. Four-orbed Ujjain symbol within outer border. Cf. Pieper 277 (for type without ornate border on the reverse). About very fine.

The obverse of this coin shows either Lord Shiva or Brahma, the god of creation, who is also known as Svayambhu ('Self-Born' in Sanskrit). Both deities are known to be depicted with three heads.
